Regulations for Participation in Ascents & Events

1. GENERAL PROVISIONS

The excursions and events of EOS HELIOUPOLI are open to everyone.

Basic requirements for participation are:

1. Membership status in a club of the Hellenic Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (EΟΟΑ)
2. Good mental and physical health
3. Adequate physical fitness, depending on the requirements of each activity
4. Willingness to cooperate and work as a team
5. Full compliance with the instructions and orders of the Climb Leaders

Certain climbs are subject to special participation terms, which are detailed in the description of each excursion.

Activities in nature, despite the observance of strict safety rules, the use of appropriate equipment and the selection of safe routes, carry an objective risk of accident. Participation presupposes full awareness and acceptance of this risk.

EOS HELIOUPOLI, as organizer, is obliged to appoint Climb Leaders. The Club's responsibility is limited to proper organization and provision of leadership.

2. PARTICIPATION PROCEDURE

Participation in an excursion is considered valid only with electronic booking.

Booking is valid only with payment of a deposit (immediately by card or within 4 days by transfer/cash). Late deposit or payment results in automatic cancellation, without notice.

Booking without a deposit does not exist and does not bind the Club.

2.1 Participation declarations

A. One-day or two-day excursions on Hymettus:

1. Booking until Tuesday, 22:00 before the excursion
2. Cancellations are made until Thursday, 22:00 before the excursion

B. One-day or multi-day excursions to other mountains:

1. Booking and deposit until 10 days before departure
2. Full payment until 5 days before departure
3. Booking less than 10 days before departure only with full payment

C. Excursions with overnight stays / meals / tickets:

1. Booking and deposit until 20 days before
2. Full payment until 10 days before
3. Booking less than 20 days before departure only with full payment

In special cases, different time limits may apply, which are explicitly stated in the description of each excursion.

3. DISCOUNTS

The Club provides the following discounts:

1. Discount €5–€10 from the official price of excursions for members of EOS HELIOUPOLI
2. Discount €10 per day from the official price or member price for students or unemployed persons (with card presentation)
3. Discount €10 per day (from member price) for one of two spouses (with marriage certificate) or partners (with cohabitation agreement)
4. Discount €10 per day from the official price or member price for participants who choose to travel with their own means to/from the start or end points, after consultation with the Leader and provided that the bus occupancy is not affected in a way that jeopardizes the execution of the excursion

4. CANCELLATION OF PARTICIPATION

1. The deposit is not refunded for any reason.
2. Cancellation within five (5) days before the excursion or non-appearance (no show) at it results in retention of the entire participation fee, with no possibility of transfer or compensation.

5. DEPARTURE POINTS

1. Hymettus: Helioupoli Fire Station or Kaisariani Fire Station
2. Other mountains: Intersection of Sofoklis Venizelou & Karneadou Streets (100m. from Helioupoli Metro – direction towards Athens)
3. Optional pickup: Kaliftaki Bridge (junction entrance from Athens) – for excursions to Peloponnese, Central Greece & Northern Greece

6. DEPARTURE TIME – PUNCTUALITY

Departure takes place strictly at the scheduled time of the excursion. The bus departs exactly at the predetermined time.

An extension of up to fifteen (15) minutes may be given only if prior notice has been given to the Leader.

Late arrival is equivalent to absence and does not generate a right to refund.

7. MODIFICATION OF EXCURSION

By the Club

EOS HELIOUPOLI reserves the right to modify or cancel an excursion before its start for reasons of safety or force majeure (natural disasters, unsuitable weather conditions, strikes, exceptional circumstances, etc.).

1. There is no right to additional compensation.
2. In case of modification, an alternative program of similar nature is proposed.
3. In case of cancellation, the entire paid amount is refunded, without further claim.

By the Climb Leader

The Leader has the right to:

1. Modify an excursion in progress for safety reasons
2. Cancel a segment of the activity
3. Prohibit the participation of a person who does not meet the requirements (physical fitness, appropriate equipment, experience, behavior, etc.)

These decisions do not generate a right to compensation.

If a participant wishes to withdraw or remove themselves from the group, they must inform the Leader.

8. INSURANCE

Accident insurance is mandatory for technically difficult excursions and/or winter mountain excursions.

EOS HELIOUPOLI provides insurance programs independently or in cooperation with the Hellenic Mountaineering and Climbing Federation.

In case a participant has private insurance coverage with equivalent or higher benefits and does not wish to be included in the Club's program, they must notify this in writing at least five (5) working days before the start of the excursion.
