Regulations on Privileges-Discounts-Subsidies

The new unified, simple and internationally aligned System of Privileges – Discounts – Subsidies of EOS Helioupoli, consolidates what the association already implements, presents clear escalation of privileges based on role & contribution, aligns with international standards of mountaineering clubs (Alpine Clubs, AAC, CAF, DAV etc.).

The Philosophy

A member acquires basic privileges. Active contribution unlocks additional privileges. High responsibility & representation justifies subsidies.

Simple Category System

Each category → clear privileges:

  1. EOSH Member
  2. Active Member
  3. Leader / Instructor
  4. EOSH Athlete
  5. Overseas Expedition Member
  6. Board Member

The System

  1. Does not pay for volunteering
  2. Recognizes contribution
  3. Sets boundaries & transparency
  4. Can be presented to sponsors & federations
  5. Reduces internal friction

Types of Subsidies / Grants

The club can offer subsidies in the form of:

  1. participation discounts,
  2. cost coverage (partial or total),
  3. participation vouchers,
  4. priority or exclusive access.

Important: This is not compensation, but institutional recognition of contribution.

Process & Governance

  1. Recording trip leadership per member (simple internal record)
  2. Annual evaluation by the Board
  3. Approval of privileges for the following year
  4. Possibility of privilege suspension in case of:
  5. non-compliance with regulations,
  6. unexcused cancellations,
  7. safety issues

Strategic Benefit for the Club

The program:

  1. creates an incentive to take on responsibility,
  2. reduces dependency on a few individuals,
  3. strengthens cohesion and the sense of belonging,
  4. can also be presented to external sponsors as an organized volunteering system.

1. Basic Membership Privileges (for all active members) Apply automatically upon financial settlement.

Participation in Activities

  1. 100% discount on Imittos climbs & hikes
  2. €5–€200 discount on the official price of all trips (Greece & abroad)

Institutional Benefits

  1. Participation (and with discounts) in activities, training schools, General Assemblies
  2. Right to undertake roles (based on regulations)

2. Privileges of Roles & Institutional Positions

2.1 Climb Leaders (≥5 trip leaderships annually)

  1. 100% discount on participation in any climb
  2. Priority in overseas expeditions & training schools
  3. Access to club equipment (on a priority basis)
  4. International practice: Volunteer Leaders – Free participation

2.2 EOSH Competitive Climbing Athletes

  1. Free coaching guidance
  2. Coverage of travel expenses for competitions
  3. Access to competition equipment

2.3 Board Members

  1. €10 / day trip discount

2.4 Board President

  1. 100% discount on all club trips

3. Active Contribution Privileges of Members (contribution-based)

Criterion for Active Contribution, as applied internationally

  1. Undertaking ≥ 3 trip leaderships / year or
  2. Equivalent organizational / educational contribution (by Board decision)

Category A – Active Contribution (≥3 trip leaderships / year or equivalent work) Privileges:

  1. 20–30% discount on the member's own participation in club climbs
  2. Priority participation in trips with limited capacity
  3. Ability to borrow club equipment
  4. Annual certificate of volunteer contribution from the club

Category B – Increased Contribution (≥5 trip leaderships / year or critical annual contribution) In addition to Category A:

  1. Free participation in 1-2 day trips
  2. Partial coverage of expenses (transportation, mountain huts)
  3. Discount on educational seminars / training schools organized or supported by the club
  4. Priority in overseas expeditions

4. Provision & Lending of Club Equipment

Basic Principles Equipment belongs to the club and is available:

  1. free of charge during training courses
  2. to members based on contribution & availability

Access Scale Category of Member - Equipment Access

  1. Simple member = Only within the context of a trip/school
  2. Active member = Priority
  3. Leaders / Instructors = Full
  4. Club expeditions = On priority

5. Overseas Expedition Subsidies

Principles Subsidies are not a right, but an approval of increased contribution. They are linked to:

  1. climb difficulty,
  2. educational/collective value,
  3. member role.

5.1 Alps / Equivalent Expeditions

  1. 10–50% subsidy / person
  2. Maximum amount: depending on the annual budget
  3. Criteria:
  4. difficulty level,
  5. trip leaderships,
  6. EOSH representation

5.2 Himalayas / High-Risk Expeditions

  1. Subsidy up to 70% / person
  2. Upper limit strictly predefined
  3. Mandatory Board decision
