Mount Olympus does not need special recommendations. It is the mountain of the gods, the highest point of Greece and a destination that every mountaineer dreams of experiencing at least once.
However, this is not the classic ascent. We start from the isolated refuge Krevátia and follow the spectacular Kópsi Barbará, one of the most impressive and less crowded routes of Olympus. With continuous landscape changes, alpine passages and unique views towards the peaks, we reach the imposing Plateau of the Muses, before ending up for overnight stay at the historic refuge Spílios Agapitós.
On the second day the goal is twofold: the peak Mítikas (2.918 m.) and the peak Stefáni (2.911 m.) depending on the experience of each participant.
After the ascent to the highest peaks of Greece, begins the great descent from Koftó towards Prionia, completing one of the most thrilling two-day ascents that one can experience in the Greek mountainous region.
We depart from Athens at 16:00 for the Krevatia refuge, where we will spend the night.
We follow the impressive Barbala Gorge, climb to the Plateau of the Muses and continue to the Spilios Agapitos refuge, where we spend the night. Hours: 8, Distance: 7.99km, Altitude gain: +1838m
Early in the morning we set out for the peaks:
Group A: Ascent to Mytikas (2.918 m.)
Group B: Ascent to Stefani (2.911 m.), using climbing equipment.
After returning from the peak, we descend from Kofto towards Prionia, where the bus will be waiting for us to return to Athens.
